v6.1 Installation Issue, SQL Server is not available

Post by Nautilus » Sep 14, 2012 10:36 am

Hi,

following Situation.

SQL Server 2008R2
Windows 208R2 Veeam Backup Server
veeambackup --> Account für Insallatoin. Is local Admin on VB Server and DBO rights on SQl Server instance

When i start the installion everything works fine. I can install the Software (v6.1 and Sp1) and start it with this Account.

But we have normal Admins with their own domain admin account. Now when this Admins wants to start VB Console
they get the message

SQL Server is not available

We have the same installation with VB ver 5.x and there are no Problems. What is different and what i hva eto change.

Thanks for any Help

Do these accounts have DBO rights on the SQL Server? I would double-check the permissions as there were no major changes in the required permissions since v5, as far as I know.

ofcourse not :) the normal admin have no DBO rights. This is not needed. BEcause Version 5.x is working fine. And i cannot give DB rights for this User

Every user opening Veeam B&R console should have access to SQL Server. DBO rights might not be required, read/write permissions should be sufficient, give it a try.

P.S. Also please find all required permissions in our User Guide (p. 57).
