When making backups from ESXi hosts, is it possible to setup VBR to use an ESXi user with administrator right instead of the root user of ESXi ?
I ask because the following problem can occur: an updated root password will cause the VBR system to retry the password and put the ESXi host in lock-down mode, which itself can become a severe problem in certain scenarios.

Re: VBR with non-root user
Hello,
"root" also has the "administrator" role directly on ESXi... so the answer is "yes".
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: VBR with non-root user
To add: the docs call out root permissions on the host, not the actual root user.
