Re: VCloud Director job-Backup of virtual machine memory
Hello,
it has nothing to do with VCloud director jobs, but in general. A backup contains a consistent (if configured) state of the machine, but never the memory.
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: VCloud Director job-Backup of virtual machine memory
When you create a manual VMware Snapshot, you have the option to save the VM memory as well. No backup product will use it for several reasons.
The main reason is that this stage of the VM is undefined. All backup software usually create consistency on disk, create a disk only snapshot and then release the consistency stage. Now the backup application has time to read the consistent data from the snapshot.
The other reasons why nobody do this is the time VMware takes to write the memory to disk and the stun of the VM because of it.
