Hi,
I try to use the new feature of veeam 9 in order to backup the vm stored on a EMC VNXe SAN.
If I run a backup, I receive:
Cannot find backup proxy capable of retrieving VM data from storage snapshot
How should I configure the proxy and/or the SAN in order to use this functionality ?
I connected the proxy to the SAN networks without success; any idea ?
The connexion between the ESX and the SAN is iSCSI ...
Kind regards - Vincent

Re: veeam 9 configuration for direct san backup
Hi,
What VNXe are you using? Please note that VNXe 3100, VNXe 3150, and VNXe 3300 are not supported. Also you have to have an Enterprise Plus edition in order to be able to perfrom backup from storage snapshot.
Thank you.

Please make sure that your proxy can read data from your storage's LUNs - check ACLs and permissions.Cannot find backup proxy capable of retrieving VM data from storage snapshot
Thank you.

Re: veeam 9 configuration for direct san backup
Hi,
The Backup is running; I do the following:
- first problem was the reverse dns of my proxy who pointed to many many old names and veeam seems to use the reverse dns to register the iscsi access for the snapshoot
- I enable the iscsi service on the proxy, don't no if it is necessary or not.
It work now thanks for your help.
Kind regards - Vincent

Re: veeam 9 configuration for direct san backup
This. Direct SAN mode works if and only if there is either FC or iSCSI connection to production storage available.- I enable the iscsi service on the proxy, don't no if it is necessary or not.
Thank you.
