Veeam backup across 500Mbps connection

Veeam Logoby HendersonD » Thu Feb 25, 2016 1:34 pm

We are thinking about purchasing two Nimble storage arrays, one for our data center and one for our disaster recovery site
We also have a 10TB Exagrid box I would like to place at our ISP
Our data center and disaster recovery site have a 10 gig fiber connection. Our campus and our ISP which is 20 miles away are connected at 500Mbps
We would use Veeam in one of two ways for backup

Veeam does a backup job from our data center to our DR site (Nimble to Nimble) and then a backup copy job to the Exagrid
Veeam does a backup job from our data center straight to the Exagrid

Would the second method be advisable given the 500Mbps connection from campus to our ISP?

Hello,
The first method is more wise since you will have 2 copies of backup and initial backup job will be executed faster.
Check out the best practices article for more useful information.
Thanks!

Also there is a dedicated Exagrid best practices KB that is worth checking.

Thank you.
