Veeam Backup question from a newbie

Post by ukuser15 »

I have a few VM's to protect/backup running on Vmware 6.5

Can the following scenario be done

Individual VM Backup:
RUN BACKUP @ 12 PM AND @ 8 PM - using Backup Job
RESTORE POINTS TO KEEP 10 - 5 DAYS - using Backup Job
TAKE WEEKLY FULL BACKUP ON SATURDAY @ 10 PM - Do i use another Backup job or merge individual backups to 1 full weekly backup
WEEKLY BACKUPS TO RETAIN - 3
TAKE 1 MONTHLY BACKUP
INDIVIDUAL MONTHLY BACKUPS TO RETAIN - 12
MERGE 12 MONTHS INDIVIDUAL BACKUP TO 1 FULL YEARLY BACKUP

Any help on this would be appreciated.

in your backup job - you can configure the job to do active fulls weekly. no need to merge or create other jobs to do this.
as a note - as you get your backup infrastructure inline, make sure there is a clear understanding between IT and management on retention, RPOs, and RTOs in case of a disaster.

To implement GFS retention scheme you need to use backup copy jobs.
