Benoit, Veeam B&R always requires license (either trial or production) and is licensed per CPU socket of the source host, whatever hypervisor version/edition you have. Thanks.

Thanks but it's not my real question ... due to my poor english level ...
I have a licence file for Veeam B&R but i would like to know if it's really necessary to register VmWare ESXi with a valid licence (not free) or Evaluation mode works ?

I have already looked at the F.A.Q :
But now, i know . . .
I was hopping that the Evaluation period of ESXi with all the fonctionnality available was enough :-/Q: Is free ESXi (also known as vSphere Hypervisor) supported?
A: Free ESXi is not supported, because it has vStorage API for Data Protection and other management APIs locked down specifically to prevent ISVs from being able to backup/manage such hosts.
Q: What is the minimum VMware licensing required?
A: vSphere Essentials.
But now, i know . . .

It is enough. ESXi host with evaluation (trial) license is also supported, since it doesn't have vStorage API for Data Protection and other management APIs locked down.
