Veeam installer service

Post by NetAdHHRI »

Started a new job and inherited a VMware 6.0 stack backed up by Veeam 9.0 - with which, fortunately, I have a lot of experience. However, ran into something I hadn't seen before. Several of my Windows 2012 VMs have a "veeam installer service" installed. I've seen that on Veeam B&R servers, but I don't recall seeing it on the VMs themselves. Any ideas what this is? Were they perhaps P2Ved?

(Unfortunately, there's no one around here I can ask who would know)

And following that question - can it be removed?

This is an auxiliary service that is used to deploy other Veeam B&R components and importantly, data movers.

Check if this VM is added under Managed Servers, and if it carries no roles - remove it from there.

Please open a support case for them to troubleshoot why removal fails. Thanks!
