Veeam Interoperability with Data Protector

Post by RMcquhae »

Hi All,

I am wondering if there is any documentation on the interoperability between the Veeam Backup Proxy and HP Data Protector 6.2.

I am looking to utilize a physical server that currently has HP Data Protector 6.2 to also be the Backup Proxy that has my HP 3PAR SANs using the SAN Snapshot functionality.

I will be needing to keep Data Protector as there are quite a few physical servers in this environment that need to be maintained. I am also likely to be using Data Protector for staging to tape.

Cheers
Rob

Robert, there is no dedicated documentation on this, but I cannot think of any interoperability issues between the products offhand.

Thanks Foggy.
I'll give it a shot, and will post back if I have any issues.

You're not going to utilize VB&R for offloading backups to tapes, aren't you? If so, the shouldn't be any issues related to solutions' coexistence. Otherwise, either of software will lock tape device to itself and make the other one fail. Thanks.

I have had no issues with running DP and Veeam Proxy on the same physical box. I'm only using it as a proxy though for direct SAN access.
