Veeam Network requirement

Post by Tos »

Hi

Our customer have a question Veeam Network requirement.
They configure below network.

Veeam B&R Server(192.168.1.2)
vCenter Server (192.168.1.3), (192.168.2.3)
Proxy Server(192.168.1.4), (192.168.2.4)

192.168.1.xx is operation system network.
192.168.2.xx is VM kernel port.

So, Veeam B&R Server can't connect to VM kernel port.
Proxy Server can connect to VM kernel port.

We create the above simmilar environment on our lab. (Veeam B&R Server can't concet to ESXi host.)
When we test backup by using Proxy Server, backup is succssful.
But, from Veeam user guide, Veeam B&R Server must connect to ESXi host…
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... =95#backup
Is it possible to support, even if the Veeam B&R server can't connect to VM kernel port ? (Proxy server can connect to it.)

Regards
Toshi

Hi,

No, currently it's not possible. Connection between VBR and ESXi is required for data transfer (TCP 902).
We create the above simmilar environment on our lab. (Veeam B&R Server can't concet to ESXi host.)
When we test backup by using Proxy Server, backup is succssful.
Does the VBR in the environment have a connection to ESXi? If so then could you provide more details on the installation please?

Thanks
