Veeam on Nutanix

Post by gingerdazza »

Hi. In v9.5 it was recommended to use DirectNFS and/or Hot-add, and with Nutanix it was advised to use these registry values to keep proxy tasks local to hosts (and yes one proxy per host!)

'EnableSameHostDirectNFSMode' and 'EnableSameHostHotAddMode'

Do these still function in v11?
Is DirectNFS still recommended for Nutanix of is v11 much better with Nutanix + NDB/hot-add now?

Thanks

According to this guide from Nutanix, it is still recommended:

Thanks. DirectNFS with proxy on each host is a huge overhead IMO :(

That is currently the best way to do backups based on how the backend works (mounting only through the storage nodes running on each host). Just remember that the Proxies do not use the given resources until backup starts. They can be small as well as you have many of them.
