Veeam V10 - Unable to backup VM.
Hello all,
running Veeam v10, vCentre v7 with 2019 VMs.
Looking to back up a server with Veeam using a service account (created as a separate AD user - is this best practice?). The user is in the domain users group and has local administrator rights on the server.
Tried to run the job with and without application aware processing but it fails with the following error:
Host vcentre.lab.net is not available. Error: Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password.
Virtual Machine SVR01 is unavailable and will be skipped from processing.
Nothing to process. All machines were excluded from task list.
the vcentre server is on the same network as the 2019 VM.
Grateful for your assistance.

Hi Mark.
That is your vCenter account issue.
Double check it's credentials under Backup Infrastructure - Managed Servers - vCenter.
/Cheers

Egor - many thanks. By re-adding the credentials that worked!
Just a thought, if the vCentre is not domain joined and login is via the root vsphere account set up when the VM was installed , what account would i put in there? The root account presumably? but what would be the format? eg - username: administrator@vsphere.local

Re: Veeam V10 - Unable to backup VM.
We prefer domain\username format, but for vSphere specifically, I'm quite sure both types will work.
And you are correct, outside domain, vsphere local account can be used just fine: root(less secure to use this one), or any other with correct permissions set.
/Cheers!
