All,
Have a hypothetical question and would appreciate any advice.
We're backing up some VMware VM's at the moment using enterprise and running scheduled VEEAM backup jobs with weekly full and daily incremental. This is on a single site with no current replication to another DR site. This is planned for the near future.
In the even that we were to encounter a total site disaster but we had access to the VBK/VRB files on media (offsite) is it possible to restore these into a new environment i.e. using a new VEEAM server and new ESXi hosts?
Regards,
Si

Re: VEEAM VBK File Restore
Sure, you can import the backup files into newly installed Veeam B&R console and perform recovery.

Re: VEEAM VBK File Restore
Foggy,
Thanks for the prompt response.
I presume we would just install VEEAM B&R and install our license. We would then register the new VMware hosts and then use the restore wizard to restore the VM?

Simon

Re: VEEAM VBK File Restore
Correct. There's also a standalone utility that allows restoring full backups even without full-blown Veeam B&R installation.
