Veeam Wan Accelerator Sizing

Post by wjching »

Hi All,

I am about to size the cache size for the source and target WA for one of my customer, I have the parameters for my calculation. But i need verification on the calculation before i submit it.

OS Type = 2
VM's = 9 VM's
Provisioned Storage = 8.5 TB (for 9 VM's)

Source WA

Digest Size = 5% of Provisioned VM Size, 5% of 8.5 TB = 425 GB

Target WA

Global Cache Data, where each OS type = 10 GB, 2 x10 GB = 20 GB
Digest Size = 2% of Provisioned VM Size, 2 % of 8.5 TB= 170 GB

Total required on Source WA storage = 425 GB
Total required on Target WA storage = 170 GB

Normally would it be recommended to add additional 10 - 20 % buffer on the values above ?

And as always thank you all in advance :)

Regards,
Wen Jun.
Thanks in advance for any suggestion or advice :D

Hi,

You should keep in mind that the target cache size will be multipled by the number of pairs configured for that particluar WAN accelerator in case of many-to-1 scenario. Also, for source cache +10GB buffer should be enough. In general, you calculations are in accordance with our best practices, please check them if you haven't done so yet.

Thank you

Hi Laurent, the rules are the same as described in the guide mentioned above and in the corresponding user guide section. Thanks!
