Very Slow NBD on 10Gb Network

Post by wa15 »

Physical Veeam server holding all roles (repo/proxy/B&R) with 10Gb network access. Running v9.5 U4 and 24 hours.
Source storage is a Nimble. Both storage and computer are on 10Gb. Running vSphere 6.5

With NBD, I only see an average of about 25MB/sec read times on the VMDKs. Highs of 40MB/sec and lows of 10MB/sec. Bottleneck is always showing "source ~95%".

I realize NBD is slower than hot add or direct storage access due to data traveling over vSphere management stack, but should I not be expecting faster speeds on a 10Gb network?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, you should normally expect 10x better performance NBD on 10Gb Ethernet... check your network hardware or its settings, as your bottleneck statistics is pretty telling. Thanks!
