Virtual Lab causes 1 minute network outage

Post by soylent »

Can someone double-check this for me? I have a virtual lab, and the SureBackup job causes a network outage on my server network for about 1 minute. It happens during the verification stage, but then it gets restored once the job hits 99%.

My server network is on 192.168.250.0 (named VEEAM 250), and the Veeam Backup server is on the 192.168.254.0 network (VEEAM 254). Both are on separate dvSwitches and separate ESXi hosts within the same cluster. The 250 dvSwitch is on NSX.

The outage happens on the 250 network.

Code: Select all

Lab name:	Veeam Sandbox
ESX name:	192.168.254.132

Appliance:
    Name:		Veeam_Sandbox
    Pool name:	Veeam Sandbox
    Folder name:	Veeam Sandbox
    Production network name:	Management
    IP:		192.168.254.175
    Subnet mask:	255.255.255.0
    Default gateway:	192.168.254.1
    DNS:
        Preferred:	192.168.254.9
        Alternate:	...

Network configuration type:	advanced multi-host

Network options:
Isolated network:	VEEAM 250
    Masquerade IP:	192.168.253.0
    Appliance IP:	192.168.250.1
    DHCP:		disabled
Isolated network:	VEEAM 254
    Masquerade IP:	192.168.255.0
    Appliance IP:	192.168.254.1
    DHCP:		disabled

Network mapping:
      vxw-dvs-552-universalwire-3-sid-70002-data-250-ls --> VEEAM 250
      Management       --> VEEAM 254

As you use advanced multihost network. Please check that the DVS switch configuration is correct, and the requirements described here are implemented:

Yes I am using VLAN tagging. But I'm only seeing one DVS in that article. Does the Virtual Lab support multiple DVS's? The Veeam server is on a different DVS than the VM in the SureBackup job

Do you use same vLAN IDs as within production?

Maybe open a support ticket or contact one of our system engineers to let them check your configuration.
My guess is that you have some overalping stuff that leads into the sitaution where you bring the vlab networks together with your production.

Be very careful with the VLAN tagging of your lab vs your production environment.
