Hy!
I have a VM which has a data disk in independent disk mode, so when I create a snapshot, the independent disk mode don't create snapshot on this disk. Can I change the disk mode to dependent in safety way? Is there any risk? What is the best practise?
Thanks.

Re: VM disk change indepedent to dependent disk mode
Hi,
It will reflect with your current VMWare version, you can follow this vmware KB.
https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/60437
On that KB, you can change mode by perform Storage vmotion and then change format explicit to dependent mode, however, it would be better if you can test & verify with testing VM first before doing for production VM

To be on the safe side, you can back the VM up using a Veeam agent. This way, you will have something to fail over if something goes wrong with the changing virtual disk type. Thanks!
