VM in suspended state when Veeam deletes snapshot

Post by Ekard »

Every time we run a veeam Backup on one of our VM's, the VM will go into a suspended state.
This only happens while Veeam Backup is deleting the Temp Snapshot created(Completing the Job).

The VM will stay in that state until the snapshot is removed.

What could be the possible cause?

Ekard, what kind of VM it is? This behavior is actually expected for highly-transactional applications, please review this topic for explanation.

Wow. Suspended state is definitely NOT expected. In fact, this is the first time I hear about something like this in 6 years. Please open a support case for investigation.

Unmerged these posts back from the Snapshot removal issues of a large VM topic.

Hm.. I might've misread the post that someone initially merged into "snapshot removal" topic, sorry for confusion. Suspended state is indeed not expected. Are you sure it is suspended and not simply unreachable for a short moment?

Also, I’m wondering whether this issues can be reproduced without Veeam presence. So, you can take the snapshot of VM manually, keep the snapshot open for long enough (similar to time it takes to backup the VM), delete the snapshot and see whether VM goes to suspended state (of course, if it truly is suspended state, and not just a VM being unreachable).

Thanks.
