Hi team,
I have a vmware backup job with storage snapshots enabled.
The job has around 100 vms managed with tags, and customer wants to enable the "application-aware" for 2 vms (are AD Domain Controllers).
Is valid the following config?
- Disable Application-Aware Processing for "vm tags" (here are included the 2 vms AD Domain Controllers).
- Add the 2 vms AD Domain Controllers with Application-Aware Processing enable.
My doubt is, will this not run application-aware in all the vms and will it run in the ones I add? The added vms have the tags as well.
Thanks,
Regards.

Re: VMware Backup Job - Application aware
Yes, you can remove or define it for specific groups. for example in the guest processing you can SELECT Cluster and deactivate guest processing. Then add the 2 VMs there and define it differently. I think you can work with tags there as well.

Re: VMware Backup Job - Application aware
Thanks Andreas! So then if the vm is in the "tags group" with APPA disabled, and also separately with APPA enabled.... which configuration do you keep?

Re: VMware Backup Job - Application aware
The smaller (group) object down the tree gets priority.
VM get priority over folder/tags over Cluster
VM get priority over folder/tags over Cluster
