We have brought Veeam since version 3.1 and have maintain that by our maintenance every year.
That version was use to backup our ESX and ESXi on version 3.0.2 and 3.5.
However due to our upgrade plan, we plan to move to Vmware Essential or Vmware Essential Plus due to cost constraint.
Is our current license enable able to backup Vmware Essential or Vmware Essential Plus - Virtual Machine?
We don't want to tie up and have our current purchase Veeam product burn and not able to used.

Hi Steven,
To work with Essentials/Essentials Plus licenses you should at least have Veeam Essentials license. Since you've purchased Veeam B&R when we were version 3, then most likely you're using on Standard or Enterprise edition license today, this license is good for any VMware license level.
Thank you.

That will be great. We just dont want to be stuck with our B&R and can't use it with vmware Essentials/Essentials Plus. We arelready paid so much from the begining and maintenance through years. We want that investment to be protected from customer point of view.

If you have Veeam Essentials license, than you are limited to VMware Essentials/Essentials Plus for hosts.
If you have any other Veeam license, than you are not limited to anything in regards to VMware licensing.
This also means that VMware Essentials/Essential Plus hosts can be processed with any Veeam license.

Re: Vmware Essential or Vmware Essential Plus
Gostev,
Thanks for the answer. I am glad that I could use back our Veeam B&R brought original from version 3.1 and upgrade it to version 5 (or installed as a new one)
Then use it to backup any host on VMware Essential Plus.
That is great news. Thanks.
