vSphere 5.0 U1 host and veeam b&r 6.5
Hi
I have a trial version of Esxi 5.0 Update 1 installed on a server.
Other server is Windows Server 2012 DC (Trial License). Veeam B&R 6.5 is installed on this server.
I receive an error when I am trying to add my vSphere 5.0 U1 host to Veeam B&R v6.5.
I can't connect with vSphere Client from server to vSphere host.
Telnet from win2012 server to vSphere host didn't work also.
From my desktop pc both works.
Any idea why i can't go through the vSphere from my server ?

Hi, I guess it is either networking/DNS issue, or you are simply not specifying the correct host name or IP address. Can you ping the host from the server? As soon as you are able to connect to the host with vSphere Client, Veeam B&R will be able to connect as well. Thanks!roelvdw wrote:I can't connect with vSphere Client from server to vSphere host.

Hi
When I use test management work from vSphere Host > ping to DNS is OK.
When I ping from the Windows Server to DNS > ping OK
When I ping from the Windows Server to vSphere Host > NOK , Destination Host is unreachable
When I ping from desktop computer to vSphere Host > ping = OK
Ping from desktop to DNS and Windows server is also good.
Where do I have to look for DNS issues. On my DNS manager from Windows Server 2008 R2 ?

Yes, make sure your DNS Server (Windows host) can successfully resolve the name of your ESX(i) server. Btw, have you tried connecting to your ESX(i) server via IP address?

Yes I have tried to connect from windows server to vSphere Host via Ip address.
Telnet from windows server to ipaddress esxi host isn't OK. When I use vSphere Client on Server to connect to the ipaddress of vSphere Host > doesn't work.

Do you probably have some firewall software installed/enabled on that Windows host? Worth checking its log/settings.

I have windows firewall turned off for all networks.
No firewall software is installed.
We have a hardware firewall.
But the settings for desktop and server are the same.
The desktop can ping to esxi host
the server can not ping to esxi host.
both have same rights on firewall

Are you able to access any other computer from your Windows Server 2012? Also try using "tracert" to verify network packets workflow.

Then please continue investigating why you cannot connect to your ESX(i) host from the Windows Server 2012.

Seems like basic network troubleshooting is due here... a bit out of scope of this forum, you may want to look for help in generic admin communities. Again, as soon as you are able to ping ESXi from Windows Server 2012, and connect to ESXi via vSphere Client, you will be good to go to use B&R against this host.
