Hello,
Until today, I was using the free version of ESXi. But now, I want to make backup of my VMs using Veeam Backup and Replication Free Edition.
Actually, I have only one host ESXi, but I will not take the Essential kit of vSphere because my installation could use more than 3 hosts in the future. I would like to get vSphere Standard license for my host, but I wanted to know if it is mandatory to take the vSphere vCenter Server license. Today, I use vSphere client to manage my ESXi, so I would like to keep this tool.
Regards.

Re: vSphere standard without vSphere vCenter Server ?
Hi,
no you can also add single ESXi hosts to Veeam server, using root credentials, as long as they are licensed so that VMware VADP libraries are available and usable.

Re: vSphere standard without vSphere vCenter Server ?
Hi,
thanks for the reactivity and the answer. But my main question is if I buy a vSphere Standard license for my ESXi, I have to buy a vSphere vCenter Server license too ?
Regards.

This is more a VMware related question so it's best to contact a VMware sales for that. Normally you can buy them separately without a problem but best to ask them.
