vSphere Web Client "Failed to collect Veeam backup..."

Post by lp@albersdruck.de » 2 people like this post

Hi!

I recently installed the vSphere web client plugin. When I tried to use it, it would display the error message:
Server error: Failed to collect Veeam backup summary information.

I checked everything:
  • SSO was enabled
  • Web Client version was 5.1.0 Build 1063329 (minimum is v5.1.0 build 880146 according to manual)
  • User that installed the plugin has vSphere administrator rights, is a portal admin in enterprise manager (active directory)
  • vCSA version 5.1.0.10000 Build 1065184
Well, I did have this thought "what the hell, let's see if there is an update to vCSA". There was an update available, and after I installed it, the plugin now works.

So now I have vCSA to 5.1.0.10200 Build 1235310 (which updates the web client to Version 5.1.0 Build 1115182) and a working plugin.

I did open a support case (#00433876) for this and closed it right after the update of vCSA, as it now works.

I just post this is if somebody else experiences a similar problem, it might help.

Lars, thanks for sharing. I will check with QC regarding this update and if it is actually required, we will update the system requirements section of our documentation.

Hi foggy,

it might have been the reboot of vCSA that occurred during the update as another possibility.

Just another thing that QC might want to check ;)
