VSS + vCenter +KB1051
Dear all,
we were running into the same problem described in the KB1051 where the workaround is to
add the ESXi host that is managing this vCenter VM into the B&R suite as a STANDALONE host.
Therefore we tried to remove our vCenter server via Managed Servers-VMware vSphere-vCenter Servers
- Our vCenter Server and B&R told us
Unable to delete host xyz
VMware vCenter Server is used by the following jobs:
..........
.........
........
We assume that we have 1st to delete all these jobs for going further but is there a way to backup
these job settings avoiding a new setup?
Many thanks for any help!
Rainer

Re: VSS + vCenter +KB1051
Rainer, no need to remove vCenter from Veeam B&R console. You can add the ESXi host as standalone, create a new job, and add VM to it using this host (rather than vCenter).
Also, if you are using the latest Veeam B&R v6.5, there is an embedded import/export configuration (including all jobs) functionality (see the product user guide for details, page 219).
Hope this helps.

@Alex
To add the ESXi holding our vCenter VM is not possible:
Using Backup Infrastructure-Add Server- VMware vSphere button
and entering DNS name plus the credentials yield to
ESXi with name xyz already exists
It is also not possible to remove this ESXi which we see under Managed Servers-VMware vSphere-vCenter Servers
- Our vCenter Server - xyz. When we choose it the Remove Server button becomes inactive.

Re: VSS + vCenter +KB1051
You should use host's IP address to add it as standalone, if your vCenter is added via DNS name (and vice versa), I should have mentioned this earlier. Also, there is an existing topic on backing up/replicating vCenter VM, could be useful.
