vStorage API / VMWare licencing
Can somebody advise which licence feature vStorage API relates to from the VMWare vSphere Licensing page located here: http://www.vmware.com/products/vsphere/compare
Is vStorage no longer present in 5.x, is it called something else, or is it a subset of a particular licensed feature?
Is there a reference page which lists individual Veeam Backup and Replication v7 features and the required VMWare licenced features?
Many thanks.

Hi Jim,
Thank you.
vSphere Essentials and above support vStorage API for data protection.Jim wrote:Is vStorage no longer present in 5.x, is it called something else, or is it a subset of a particular licensed feature?
You don`t lose any Veeam R&R functionality regardless of the VMware edition. You might find a related topic useful. Also here is a FAQ article about licensing. Thanks, so specifically which licenced feature does vStorage API fall under, as it's not listed directly. I have read all the links supplied prior to posting the original question.

That one is easy: if you pay money for your vSphere license, you get the necessary API.
Or to put it another way: only the free ESXi hypervisor does not have the API, every paid for version does.

Thanks Lars.
That`s correct, since vSphere Essentials is a cheapest non-free edition of VMware vSphere and all other editions include its capabilities.
Thank you.
