what credentials to give to the server after restore

I restored the server from a backup on vmware, but I cannot log in because the credentials are invalid.
The credentials must be correct, because on a running machine I can log in
I restored by: Restore quest files -> Linux and other

Guest Operating System credentials are not somehow modified during backup or restore process. Please make sure that files you've restored has correct permission set on the file system. Thanks!
