When to use VBR network throttling policy over WAN accelerator scenario?

Post by Backup.Operator »

If you could help me and give me some suggestions on when to use the VBR backup bandwidth throttling policy over the deployment of the WAN accelerator VM to each site, that would be great.

As I wanted to achieve continuous backup copy from my multiple corporate Office sites to the Data Center Immutable Backup Repository over 100 MBps WAN link.

Should I combine them both or just use each only?

Hard to tell knowing little about the virtual and backup infrastructures, so I'd start with testing it in the wild and seeing what approach works better. Thanks!

OK, suppose I have used this setting already https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120 to throttle the bandwidth, do I still need to deploy WAN accelerator?

With the network throttling rules in place, you will be dealing with the limited bandwidth for which WAN acceleration might come in handy - it will optimize the data transfer and reduce the amount of data going over the network. The actual tests will show whether the usage of this technology allows jobs to finish faster. Thanks!
