Will Veeam back suit my setup?

Post by Jamesduaneie »

Installing 2 ESXI hosts (Dell 520's) connected to Dell MD3420 with dell MD1200 expansion. For backup another dell r520 connected to same 3420 and 1200 ( using the 1200 for backup location)

VMs will be domain controller, FileandPrint, 2 sql servers, 1 oracle server
plus for a seperate network another File and print server (seperate switch so Vm plugged straight to that switch)

Have tried Dell Netvault but it is overly complex.

It's designed with 3 networks for security reasons
Network 1: Management network with the 2 Hosts, and the Backup server
Network 2: To a separate switch than the management network switch so cannot ping/ talk to the management network,
Network 3: to a 3rd switch - again completely separate

The backup server has vcenter on it and full access to the MD3420 and the Md1200 - if Veeam was on the backup server could it backup all the VMs?

Hi James,

Given that Veeam backup server has access to your ESXi hosts and to your storage (for direct SAN access backup mode), it should work fine.
