windows server and linux server replication

Post by salih57 »

Hi All,
we are new in veeam backup and replicaiton and I have no experince in this subject.I have question about replication job.we have virtual linux and windows servers on both hyperv and vmware platform and I want to repicate them to disaster center by veeam.when I creating job, would it be inconvenient to put both linux and windows servers in one job? or should I create job windows and linux servers seperately?
what is the differences of between replication and backup?
thanks...

Hi,

Yes, it would, as that will result in a better deduplication ratio.
r should I create job windows and linux servers seperately?
Hyper-V and VMware VMs cannot be combined in one job, so you'll have at least 4 jobs: Linux-Hyper-V, Linux-VMware, Windows-Hyper-v, Windows-VMware
what is the differences of between replication and backup?
Please see our userguide:

- Replication
- Backup

and this thread. It is a bit old, but statements there still hold true till present day.

Thanks
