Are there any news to this topic? We also have a lof of vms with ase sybase databases and search for a way to backup them in a consistent way and try to find out the best solution for translog backups. Does anyone wanna share his procedure? Thanks in advance.

Re: Backup SAP ASE DBs
Hello,
I recommend reading this topic, in particular, review this post. If you have any questions, please let me know.
We're researching different ways to support this application, and if you don't mind, I'd like to ask a couple of questions. Would you use a plug-in for Sybase ASE (similar to one of the existing ones for Oracle/SAP) to protect application data, and image-level backups to protect the VM itself? The main idea is to allow native backups on the application side while streaming data to the Veeam infrastructure. Do you run ASE workloads on standalone servers or clusters? What OS distributions do you have, and what ASE versions are you using?
@Mofamike fyi: I deleted a duplicated post from this topic.
Thanks!

Re: Backup SAP ASE DBs
Hey,
thank you very much for the answer.
Of course, a unified solution without a plugin (everything just via VBR) would be even better.
Thank you very much for your efforts

In any case, we would also use a plugin and do the VM backup dedicatedly. This is a viable option in the first step, especially for handling log files (similar to Saphana) and would simplify the procedure.- Would you use a plug-in for Sybase ASE (similar to one of the existing ones for Oracle/SAP) to protect application data, and image-level backups to protect the VM itself?

On HyperV and VMware Clusters (no standalone)- Do you run ASE workloads on standalone servers or clusters?
OS: sles 15 sp6, DB: ase 16.0.4.6- What OS distributions do you have, and what ASE versions are you using?
Thank you very much for your efforts
