We have a virtual infrastructure based on recent VMware vSphere.
And there are several VMs with recent SLES15 as GuestOS and either with SAP/Sybase-ASE or SAP/MaxDB.
It seems for these two cases there is no further integration from Veeam like the Plugin which exists for SAP HANA.
So I was wondering what would be the best way to backup these Database VMs - application-consistent.
For disaster recovery it would be sufficient once per day.
But the Database backups and logs should be backupped "continuously"
Which backup job settings, maybe different types of jobs also?
Are there recommended pre- and post-thaw scripts for this?
Would be interesting how others solved those cases...
Best Regards

Re: Best Practice for Backup VMs with Sybase-ASE and SAP MaxDB
Hi Udo,
for MaxDB, please check this forum entry: veeam-backup-replication-f2/create-a-ma ... t5281.html
For the Sybase ASE database there is no way to prepare the database for online backup on image/storage level.
You can shutdown the service and backup the database, back it up crash consistently online (just backup) or backup the database to a folder/share and back up this folder with Veeam.
As well please read https://me.sap.com/notes/1588316 for it.
