HANA plugin can't use imported backups from new VBR-server repo

Hello.

We have two VBR 12.1 servers (primary and second for DR-case) used for SAP HANA backups.

We simulate outage of primary VBR-server by creating on second VBR-server new repo on folder with backup copy's (created by backup copy jobs from primary VBR-server) and importing backups via Rescan (all backup's presented in "Backup -> Disk (Imported)."

Next on HANA-host we reconfig HANA-plugin agent to second VBR-server and new repo with imported backups and according to manual perform task "Converting Backup Copy to Backup" via command SapBackintConfigTool --promote-backup-copy-to-primary but have warning :

"There are no backup copies available"

In the same time we can succesfully restore HANA-databases from new repo with imported backups via Veeam HANA Explorer to the same HANA-host.

Also if we try to rescan new repo with imported backups again we got error :

The conflict occurred in database "VeeamBackup", table "dbo.BObjects", column 'id'.

What can be wrong with HANA-plugin agent reconfiguration on HANA-host for this case ?

Hi Dmitry,

If your purpose is to restore only, then have a look at the restore to another server workflow and try set-backup-for-restore command to select the necessary backup. If you want to make a copied backup be the primary one and continue running backups there, please open a support case to troubleshoot the issue with the promote command, and share a support case ID: I'm pretty sure that the plug-in does not see backup copies due to the issue with metadata synchronization, it does not work because of a duplicate in one of the configuration database tables.

Also, why don't keep just a single instance of Veeam B&R on the DR site and perform configuration backup? I never recommend installing 2 Veeam B&R servers.
