Are NetApp Filer exclusions ignored?

Post by jp7189 »

I'm trying to exclude some root folders from being backed up from a NetApp NAS Share. I've specified the exclusion using every format I can image, but the folder is still being backed up. Does the new integration with NetApp snapdiff not support exclusions yet?

Here's what the exported filter looks like:

<NasBackupJobMasks>
<IncludeMasks />
<ExcludeMasks>
<NasBackupMask Type="Path" Path="//nafiles2/ppmsarchivedtest/aaa_exclude" />
<NasBackupMask Type="Path" Path="\\nafiles2\ppmsarchivedtest\aaa_exclude" />
<NasBackupMask Type="Path" Path="\aaa_exclude" />
<NasBackupMask Type="Path" Path="/aaa_exclude" />
</ExcludeMasks>
</NasBackupJobMasks>

Yet, the data from aaa_exclude is available to restore.

To add to this, when I backup the NetApp as a generic SMB share, the following exclusion is honored:
<NasBackupMask Type="Path" Path="\aaa_exclude" />
So, the problem only happens using the new NetApp integration. This looks like a bug or incomplete implementation.

Now, my next question: can I exclude a root folder by wildcard from a generic SMB share? Meaning, how to I exclude "\A*" ? I have tried that exact expression, but it doesn't work. Is this possible?
