NAS backup and tapes
Hello,
I would like to know if I have a solution to backup my NAS (netapp) on tape (without file to tape) like I can put my backup to tape ?
I use "new" file job to backup as filer NAS to my primary repository but there is no option to then copy these data to tape ?

Hi matteu
See this long discussion about your question
There is no „File Backup 2 Tape“ Job feature available at the moment.
Feature request - NAS Backup tape support

Re: NAS backup and tapes
Your welcome.
You can do NDMP Backups at the moment, if you need to get the nas share to a tape.
Or something that I will try out soon with Cloud Connect:
The folder with the VBLOB files and metadata can easily be imported (officially supported) to a new vbr server for doing restores of the files.
My idea is nothing else as making a copy of the entire file share repo to a second medium. It should work for smaller environments (a few TB).
Soon, I will test this scenario

It‘s not officially supported, but because the vblob files in the repo are not databases, I can backup the Linux Repo VM (when no nas backup jobs are running or better when the vm is turned off) with VBR to send it to cloud connect or in your case to a tape.1. Add a Linux Backup Repo VM to the VBR server of the customer
2. Create a NAS Backup Job to target the Linux Backup Repo VM
3. Backup the entire Linux Backup Repo VM to another VBR Backup Repo
4. Copy the vm to our Cloud Repo.

Re: NAS backup and tapes
Thank you for these information.
Unfortunately, my customer has not enough space on production datastore for it.
I need to backup around 100To from netapp storage and my only solution is to backup on disk with X retention days :/
That means with veeam it's not possible to restore NAS file data from last year without :
-Have really big storage array for backup (need 365 retention days)
-ndmp to tape (slow as I can see on several topic)
-file to tape (probably the worst solution)
