Request for API Integration Timeline for Proxmox - Building Multi-Tenant Platform
Hi Veeam Team,
We're currently in the process of building a multi-tenant management platform for Proxmox, similar to VMware's vCloud Director, which we're calling MultiPortal. Our goal is to provide a seamless management experience for our users, including the integration of Veeam job management directly within our platform. We're currently in Alpha and is available for testing at http://multiportal.io
In VMware environments, vCloud Director allows for integration with Veeam, enabling users to manage backup jobs and recovery tasks directly from the platform. We're looking to achieve similar functionality with MultiPortal for Proxmox, but I'm unsure that the necessary API endpoints to support this integration aren't available yet.
Can anyone provide any information on whether these API endpoints for Proxmox might be available?
We have had a lot of interest from testers about the ability to use Veeam from within our platform for Proxmox.
We are eager to deliver a fully integrated experience for our users, and any insights or timelines you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Matt, welcome to the forums.
Great to hear about the platform and your work with the Veeam RestAPIs.
Regarding your request, in V1 for Proxmox there are no API endpoints at this time for Proxmox; however, it's naturally being reviewed internally -- nothing to share at this moment, but this is definitely an element that is being explored.
Appreciate the feedback!

Hi David,
Thanks for the warm welcome!
I appreciate the update regarding Proxmox, we're eager to see how this evolves and would be happy to test any future developments or share feedback on the process.
If you could please keep me in the loop would be great.

Proxmox PowerShell Commands
Hi Guys,
Do we have any idea on when Proxmox support will be added to the PowerShell module?
Currently Get-VBRBackupSession will output job history but will not output running jobs and Get-VBRJob will not include Proxmox type jobs.
Build: 12.2.0.334

[MERGED] Re: Proxmox powershell veeamzip script
Hi Felix
According to our user guide Start-VBRZip is available only for VmWare + HyperV machines. Let me check with one of my colleagues if we have an unsupported way to initiate VeeamZip for Proxmox machines.
Your request for an official cmdlet update is noted.
Best,
Fabian

Hi,
Best regards,

No timeline on Proxmox support in the APIs (VBR REST and Powershell), but consider your request noted.Do we have any idea on when Proxmox support will be added to the PowerShell module?
Best regards,
Oleg

Hi @felix123
I moved your request to the existing API topic for Proxmox.
Unfortunately there is no unsupported way to fulfill your request.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Request for API Integration Timeline for Proxmox - Building Multi-Tenant Platform
+1 - we'd like to be able to add proxmox to a VBR via powershell or restAPI and then run restores of restore points from other hypervisors via command line to proxmox. Basically, it would great to have feature parity between the UI and command line options for running restores.

Apologies for the double post... More specifically I was agreeing that powershell/restAPI command line automation for proxmox is needed! Thank you!

PowerShell commands don't return Proxmox jobs
Get-VBRJob and Get-VBRBackupSession commandlets don't return information about PVE jobs, even in VBR v12.3
Is there a timeframe on adding this support?

//MERGED powershell & proxmox
Hi
we're trying to get info from VBR in our powershell based tooling for our billing system.
For VMware backups, that works great, for jobs originating from proxmox not so. At least, the info is not in the same place.
Where can I find more details on how to fetch the required info?
Snippet of what we're using now:
Snipped is quite condensed of course, more happens
In our situation, the GetObjects fails, gives back nothing. If you do the same on a backup coming from VMware or hyper-v, it works as as expected.
Thanks for any pointers,
Piet

Hi Piet
I moved your topic. We don't have PowerShell or RESTful API integration for Proxmox workload yet.
This is an open feature request.
Best,
Fabian

May I ask, are you a Service Provider? If so, our Service Provider Console can be used to export a list of Service Usage per client. "BackedupVms" in VSPC RestAPI - Get Services Usage by All Companies provides information about all protected VM workloads, which includes Proxmox VMs.we're trying to get info from VBR in our Powershell based tooling for our billing system.

Re: Request for API Integration Timeline for Proxmox - Building Multi-Tenant Platform
Hi Fabian,
Thanks.
Yes, we are SP; so we could try that.
We expected a bit too much apparently ie that the powershell interface would be complete for this. Is the internal format within the vbm so much different that this is non-trivial?
Thanks,
Piet

Re: Request for API Integration Timeline for Proxmox - Building Multi-Tenant Platform
Hi Piet
Our PowerShell cmdlets are not "reading VBM files" when you execute them. PowerShell cmdlets get the information directly from the configuration database.
I don't have the exact details, but Proxmox backups & restore points are different object types in our database. That's why existing PowerShell cmdlets have to be updated before they work with new types of workload.
Best,
Fabian
