Anyway to pick a file when using Extract utility?

Post by limerock »

I need to get a VHDX out of one of my HyperV backups. I'm using the Extract Utility, and while it lets you select which VM to extract, it doesn't seem like theres an option to choose which disk files to extract. My VM has several VHDX files on it, ranging from 500MB to 3TB. When I only need 1 of them its painful to have to wait for it to extract the other 2. It never seems like it does it in the same order, and so far everytime its extracted the one I actually need last lol.

Its currently extracting my 3TB VHDX which I do not need. Anyway to tell it to skip it?

Alternatively, is it possible to restore just a single VHDX from the backup console? I do not want to restore the entire VM as only one of my VHDX files has missing data that I'm trying to recover. Maybe this is the correct path, but I don't want to click next and accidently revert my entire VM as I'm new to Veeam

Watched a couple videos on restoring from the console and see that I can extract single files as a restore job. I'm all set on this

Hello, glad you found it, Joe,
Yes, for VM Files recovers, like the VHDX, here is the guide for future readers - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
For Guest files - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120

I always use the second to recover granular items, configs, etc.

So fast and easy.

Thanks!
