auto add backup jobs when new guest is added

Is there a way I can set up a rule that when I add a guest to my hyper-v host connected to my Veeam BU server that it automatically creates a back up on that server?

Trying to take out extra steps

Alsom if I can configure extra properties too, that would be great. ie back up job name is the same name as the guest, bu everyday at 2 am, etc, etc

Hi Nathan, if you add the entire Hyper-V host into the job, the newly added VMs will be automatically backed up during the next job cycle. Is this what you're looking for?

How are jobs handled when the entire host is backed up?

Are all the VMs listed as separate jobs? ie can I can make individual job settings as I would normally - not just a blanket backup policy?

I will be backing up the entire host, but want to maintain separate settings/notifications on a guest by guest basis.

Nope, it's the opposite - as single job with general job settings being the only settings used. Thanks.

This would be a great built in for Veeam to incorporate. We run multiple clients across a few hosts, so i need the flexibility of bespoke settings per job. I can always tweak the setting later, but having the job start after I create the VM on the host would be one less step I have to take.

Why not to try to use Hyper-V Tags then? Every new VM provisioned should be assigned with a special tag that represents each customer, this will split all VMs on the host to individual jobs per each client you have.

If that requires system center manager, then it wont work unfortunately. Not interested in getting that beast up and running at the moment.
