Dear All,
I am looking to calculate the total transferred data size (in mega byte) for Veeam differential replication, daily incremental jobs,
so I just want to insure about that to allocate enough disk space required for a new project
for example :
I have checked and reviewed Synthetic Full backup job (which is occur once a week) and the results is as follows:
Data ,
Processed 853 GB (100%)
Read 42.3 GB
Transferred 8.0 GB (5.3x)
I just want to know which part is the total data transferred and reserved for the backup server, as I understood it's a full backup but why only 8.0 GB data transferred while the actual size is 853 GB ?
here is the summary report for the incremental backup as well (which is running 6 times a week):
Processed 850.5 GB (100%)
Read 45.6 GB
Transferred 9.2 GB (4.9x)
I didn't find a huge difference, between full and Incremental so can any one please explain what are these number refer to ? and how to calculate daily incremental data transfer.
any reply or help is highly appreciated
B regards

Re: Calculate daily backup and replication data size
Hello Mohd,
Synthetic full backup first copies the latest changed data blocks, which are 8GB in your case and then merges the increments into a new full backup file. Check the full backup size in your file system, it should be much more than 8GB.
For the further calculations you can use this handy tool: restore point simulator.
Thanks!

Re: Calculate daily backup and replication data size
Hi Shestakov,
thanks for the reply, it's really very useful details for me
for replication job, do I need also to check the data on the disk physically?
for 3TB storage without OS data size how replication job will run on hyperv environment, because I only saw vmware replica calculation avilable there is no option for hyper-v
regards

Yes, vSphere Client is another option. VBR shows job statistics rather virtual infrastructure details.
If you have Veeam ONE, I would suggest checking there.
