Deleting failed instant recovery job

Post by robnicholsonmalt »

Joy, power outage on Christmas Day caused a Linux VM not to boot so tried doing instant restore. The first instant restored failed but the second worked. However, stuck with a job in the manager which won't end and there is no way to cancel. How do I delete this job from the console?

Hi Rob

Stuck sessions normally needs to be removed in the veeam configuration database. This is only supported if veeam support is involved. Sometimes a reboot can help. But because a instant vm recovery session can survive a server reboot, I don‘t think that it will work to get rid of the instant vm recovery session. But you can try.

Please open a support case like you must do for any technical issues.

After the session is removed, there may be leftovers (registered vms) on the hyperv server. You must remove them by yourself.

I tried a reboot but that didn't work but as if by magic, a few days later and the failed job has disappeared.

In case it helps someone.... Veeam Support helped me with the following solution that worked clearing the stuck IR job immediately without needing reboot. Just need to make sure there is no other IR jobs running as command kills all. This can be executed from PowerShell directly or using the Veeam Console, Menu at the top left > Console > PowerShell

Get-VBRInstantRecovery | Stop-VBRInstantRecovery

Dear Members,
I Tried to use Veeam Power Shell command, but no luck, might be my case is little different,
I made a Instant recovery Job, (image is attached) but the veeam is waiting for the response,
The ESX server and the VM and the JOB is obsoleted and deleted, but the job status is still in running position, due to the job status is running i am unable to update veeam 11a to veeam B&R 12.

Hi Muhammad

Please open a support case. If you cannot remove it, support may be able to delete it from the database.
Don't forget to share the case number with me.

Best,
