Exclusions from AAP don't work

Post by geets »

Hello,

I have a Backup Job, that backs up an entire Hyper-V-host - meaning the source object is the Hyper-V-host.
AAP is enabled with VSS:"ignore failures" on the whole Hyper-V-host-object

Some VMs need to be excluded entirely from application aware processing.
So with power shell I created a hyper-v vmgroup called "NoAAP" where I add VMs I want to exclude from AAP.

In the backup job I defined this vmgroup as an exclusion from AAP VSS:"disabled"

This doesn't work, veeam still attempts to use AAP on these VMs.

Am I doing something wrong? I'd be grateful for help.

Hello,
do you see it in the job settings that VSS is disabled? If yes, please open a case and let support check.

In my screenshot, I don't have the full host. In your case it should show the host + the VMs you want to exclude from AAIP.

Best regards,
Hannes

Yes it's as you said.
Another difference is, that I use a vmgroup as an object to exclude vms.
I doublechecked, that there are vms in that group. Within veeam i expanded the vmgroup and I can see the expected vms.

then I would try it out with a single VM first. That must work. Just to check for general issues.

For vmgroups... support should check that. that could be an issue (please post the case number here for reference)
