Hey!

Not sure if I'm following you correctly but here we go.

I would recommend you do do a config backup after each backup windows to a location outside of your hypervisor and vm. (This can be automated in the VBR console) then file copy to somewhere else than the hypervisor running the backup server.

If there is a failure ,just spin up a new Windows server on the hypervisor or other hypervisor with access to the backup/service net you're running on and import the backup of the config, you should be fine then. :D

Hi Jeremy
- if Veeam server + backup on NAS are available, just add new Hyper-V host to console and run VM Recovery wizard(Full VM Restore or Instant VM Restore)
- if Veeam server is dead alongside other VMs, you can
a) spin up new Veeam server and run restores from same NAS backup location(add same repository NAS to it, or use Configuration Restore)
b) use Veeam Extract Utility tool to restore using command line or simplified UI

You can also prepare in advance for cases like this:
- have Veeam's Configuration Backup under control. By default we backup our server configuration daily to default repository location. That configuration backup can be used to restore all jobs and settings in Veeam Server you have done before on a new, fresh and empty Veeam Backup and Replication server.
- have a secondary Hyper-V host(can be free Microsoft Hyper-V Server installation), and replicate Veeam VM over to it using Veeam Replication. In case of disaster with primary Hyper-V server, Veeam server can get up and running in seconds.
/Cheers!
