Importing Hyper-V Server with local Administrator

Post by Andrey28 »

Hi

In accordance with the company's security policy, local account Administrator is disabled on the 2016 Server Hyper-V.
I try to import Hyper-V to RB from another host with account in Administrators group on Hyper-V machine, but get Error credentials.

How can I inport Hyper-V machine to RB according with the company security policy?

Hello,
what do you mean with "import"? Do you mean adding it as a server?

You don't need the administrator account for that. Any other account with local administrator permissions is also fine. But the account must have local administrator permissions

Best regards,
Hannes

Yes, i mean adding Hyper-V server.
Here screenshot:

on the left you see Admin account in local Administrators group.
on the right you see an Error, when I try to add this server with this credentials.
What am I doing wrong?

Hello,
ah, a local user... sounds UAC prevents that. Please see microsoft-hyper-v-f25/failed-to-connect ... ml#p344810

I just tested it in my lab and it works fine after disabling UAC.

Best regards,
Hannes

Unfortunately, this doesn't work. The UAC is initially disabled, as you can see in the left in screenshot

What else I have to do?

I did not use the UI, I just did

Code: Select all

reg add HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system /v EnableLUA /t Reg_DWORD /d 0
and rebooted the hyper-v server

if this does not help, please open a support case. It's hard to guess your issue in a public forum.

Hello,
and welcome to the forums. I merged your question with an existing thread.

I assume that you don't have admin permissions as mentioned above.

Best regards,
Hannes
