If the integration components installed on a VM are older than the integration components available to be installed from the host, Veeam logs a warning in the job log. However, the icon is a green check mark and the job ends with a green check mark. Most admins don't spend time looking at the logs of the jobs that reported success. I'm thinking it would be better if Veeam flagged this as a true warning to get attention from the admin. (Perhaps allow for an override to be set in cases when the IC can't be updated for some reason.)
There's a screen shot in this blog entry that shows what a job log looks like when this condition is detected.

In the case of the blog entry, the system admin installed new IC components onto the hosts without telling the VM admin. The VM admin found the version mismatch by accident while troubleshooting an unrelated issue.

Re: Integration Components Version Warning Not Really a Warn
Marc, thanks for reasonable feedback. Having Integration Components most up-to-date is not so critical and we actually had a long thread where users were asking to turn similar warning for VMware Tools version into an informational message. Still, Veeam B&R is not an infrastructure monitoring solution. We consider this information to be worth of letting the user know, but to monitor Integration Components status and version you'd better use specific monitoring tools, like Veeam ONE (that provides VMs Configuration report with corresponding information).

Re: Integration Components Version Warning Not Really a Warn
I continued thinking about this and realized that there will be some users that want messages like these as warnings and others as informational messages. If you ever decide to enhance this area of the application, you could provide a preference section that would allow users to customize which items flag as a warning.

Yes, there will always be someone who needs the opposite defaults, so here we have to keep the balance and try not to overcrowd the UI exposing an infinite number of settings. Thanks!

Re: Integration Components Version Warning Not Really a Warn
If there is a need to monitor a version of Integration Services we can easily create a pre-defined alarm for this (in addition to the report) to allow maximum flexibility.
