Move VMs between CSV in Hyper-V and Veeam

Hello

I had to move a few VMs to antoher CSV in Hyper-V.
We have backup jobs configured per CSV. When i run the backup job now, veeam creates a new full backup file in the repository folder of the new CSV for that VM.
Is it possible to move the old backup files, pointing to the old CSV location, to the new CSV backup folder? So that i would regognize the old backups and uses the old backup chain?

The full backup is required regardless because moving the VM to another disk resets the Change Tracking data.

However, nmdange is correct in saying that Change Block Tracking data will be lost (I am assuming this is not 2016 Hyper-V because that changes the game ). We won't do however a new full backup that is not needed but the first next run will take quite some time as we need to rescan the entire VM again to see what has changed

Thank you, but i think this only works if i want to create a new repository or a new job or
change it for all VMs in a backup job. But not single VMs in one job.

For example,

Backup Jobs:
1. "Backup CSV 1" which backups all VMs on Hyper-V CSV 1
2. "Backup CSV 2" which backups all VMs on Hyper-V CSV 2

I have one repository "Repository 1".

VM01 backup file location on the backup server: "G:\Backup CSV 1\VM01.vbk/vib"
VM01 file location on Hyper-V is: "C:\ClusterStorage\CSV01\"VM files"

Now i move VM01 in the Hyper-V Cluster Manager from "C:\ClusterStorage\CSV01\" to "C:\ClusterStorage\CSV02\"

Veeam Backup now finds the VM01 on the new location and treats it like i was a new VM in backup job "Backup CSV 2"
and builds a new chain for it under "G:\Backup CSV 2\VM01.vbk/vib".
Can i move single VMs between CSVs in Hyper-V Cluster Manager whitout creating a new backup chain?

Maybe it would work if we would select single VMs in the backup job instead of select the whole CSV.

Did you try to edit the job and map the files (if that is possible at least)

PS: By design when you move a VM between CSV's a new full backup and chain will be taken. But I still wonder if you cannot map the backup.

If i want to map the files i can only chose the whole CSV an not a single VM.
Should i try to map the whole CSV?
But if i map the old CSV all VMs from that job would be mapped to the new one, right?
I only want to move one single VM within that job.

Hmmm,

I'm afraid that in that case it won't be possible. (I was hoping differently since I never tested such a specific scenario)
