Really .... what it functions the proxy server?
In my laboratory consisting of several hyper - v servers I've never added a proxy server and I had no problem with backups jobs / replica .

You always have at least one proxy server. The role of default on-host proxy is played by source Hyper-V host. Thanks.

Off-host proxies primarily reduce CPU load on the Hyper-V host.
