Hi all,
Veeam Case # 05271451
For backup copy jobs we are using Quantum Dxi Appliances with integrated VDMS.
Repositories are configured using best practices provided bei Quantum.
We are using that Dxi only for backup copy jobs.
For several weeks now have the problem that after a while the DXi gets unresponsive and VBR cannot write to that reoistory anymore.
VDMS ist still responding but the repo itself is shown as unavailable.
Quantum support says there are a lot of"stiching" operations killing the appliance.
Most of the time rebooting the DXi helps for 2-5 hours.
I am unsure if Fast Clone causes this as those merge jobs take a lot of time in the cases they finish...
Has anybody experienced a similar issue with backup copy jobs to dedup aplliances?
Thanks in advance

Re: Quantum Dxi dedup appliance gest unresponsive
Haven't heard similar issue reports before so thanks for opening a case with our technical support. Our engineers will be able to track this down after reviewing the logs.

Re: Quantum Dxi dedup appliance gest unresponsive
Hello,
we disabled Fastclone but still VBR creates too much load on that DXi.
Unfortunately as a Hyper-V customer (as so often) we are a customer 2nd class and we do not have the option to activate to read the entire full restore point from the source within backup copy jobs.
This option is available when using VMware...
And we still do not know how to handle the NAS jobs as there aren't any options to change the behavior VBR is writing to the repo for the secondary job...
We switched to Veeam Backup because we had a lot of problems with MS DPM which caused too much load on ReFS Volumes.
We payed a lot of money for a solution and again we get into a situation where the backup software kills our storage even though it was all sized by a consultant.
I really hope Quantum can provide a solution
kind regards

This active full option is also available for hyperv backup copy jobs when using periodic copy jobs. Is it possible that you have configured immediate copy jobs? Then it will be not available. Same limitation is in place when using vmware.Unfortunately as a Hyper-V customer (as so often) we are a customer 2nd class and we do not have the option to activate to read the entire full restore point from the source within backup copy jobs.
This option is available when using VMware...
