Hi,
can a phys. Hyper-V off-Host proxy use or be both, hardware and software vss provider? So in case of failovering to Software vss Provider is he independent from the hyper-v cluster nodes which natively are the software vss provider using on-host proxies ?
Can he switch the mode from hardware to software vss mode by leveraging himself as the proxy?
Best regards
Max

Re: Question regarding Off-Host Proxy role
Hi Max,
If hardware providers are available, Veeam Backup & Replication selects a hardware provider to create volume shadow copies on a volume. If no hardware providers are installed, Veeam Backup & Replication selects the VSS system software provider. If necessary, however, you can assign a VSS provider on every volume manually.
If both software and hardware providers are available for a volume, it is recommended that you select a hardware provider.
Software providers do not support transportable volume shadow copies and cannot be used for off-host backup.
Thanks!
