Replicatian possible to same Host?
Hello. I am a new customer to Veeam since V11a.
First I want to say how amazed I am by how much I have learned since first installing your software.
I am currently testing replication features, since we have a Software Assurance which includes those rights,
Now I have this following question:
I have 2 HyperV Hosts with a very large array and free space.
Is it feasable to replicate simply all VMs from both hosts to each other?
I know I need 2 jobs for 2 targets, but can I "replicate half of VMs to self" or does this bring up any issues?
Does this even work?
I hope I described my question well.
Thanks!

Yes, this works and is primary use case of the software

Re: Replicatian possible to same Host?
Just to be sure to phrase it right:
I want to select all VMs that are on both hosts in one job and replicate them to each other.
This means I replicate half of the VMs to the host it came from as a replica, so any host would also contain its own VMs as a replica and not only the opposite hosts VMs.
Is this an excellent choice given the space and array I have?
This means I always have a full replica of all VMs on both hosts.
Thank you for your time.

Re: Replicatian possible to same Host?
No, I would do 2 jobs. one for each direction. they can run in parallel if you have enough proxy task slots… one task slot transport one VM disk

Yes, but also including the VMs that are only going to be replicated to self? (All guests on both hosts)
Or would you only replicate the VMs that are exclusive of one host to the other?
Thanks for the pro tip.

Re: Replicatian possible to same Host?
You cannot have multiple hosts as targets in a single job so you would anyway need a few jobs to accomplish that (if I'm correctly getting what you're trying to achieve).

Re: Replicatian possible to same Host?
I understand that I need 2 jobs for 2 targets.
Lets say I have 2 hosts A and B, and both have 2 VMs 1+2.
I want to replicate A1+A2+B1+B2 to host A and to host B in 2 jobs.
Or is it better to just replicate A1+A2 to host B and B1+B2 to host A?
As I said, my arrays are 3/4 empty, I have the space.
It is just the question if its smart or possible to replictate VMs to self (same host) without problems.

Re: Replicatian possible to same Host?
So would you make job1 A1+A2+B1+B2 ->A and job2 A1+A2+B1+B2 -> B ?
Or is only job1 B1+B2 -> A and job2 A1+A2 -> B recommended?
Benefit would be a fast replica if something happened to original VM but not the host.
I hope I now made my question clear

Now it's clear and definitely possible. Replica VM will have a different ID and a suffix in its name so no issues having it on the same host as the original VM.So would you make job1 A1+A2+B1+B2 ->A and job2 A1+A2+B1+B2 -> B ?
