Rotating Disks
Hallo Forum,
we do B2D with rotating USB disks. Our retention policy is set to "5". We do forever incremental and Application awareness (Exchange and DC). We change the usb disks daily.
The problem is that never an incremantal backup is made. When we change the Usb-Disk then a Fullbackup is made automatically on the next schedule.
We want to have on each disk 1 Full and around 5 incremantals with daily rotating USB-Disks.
Thanks an with kind regards
HT

Re: Rotating Disks
Hello,
It's expected that first run for each repository will be full backup and subsequent ones will be incremental.
That's the logic:
Thanks

If you experience different behavior, please contact the support team. When a new job session starts, VBR checks if the backup chain on the currently attached drive is consistent, i.e. contain a full backup and all incremental backups that have been produced by the job. If external drives have been swapped, and the full backup or any incremental backups are missing from the currently attached drive, Veeam Backup & Replication starts the backup chain anew. It creates a new full backup file on the drive, and this full backup is used as a starting point for subsequent incremental backups.
Thanks

Re: Rotating Disks
Hallo Shestakov,
thanks for answering.
How can I make it that there are exactly 2 Fullbackups on each disk? This is not what I originally planed but its also okay for our case now...
Thanks and regards

Re: Rotating Disks

Re: Rotating Disks
I believe there is now way to configure 2 full backups on each drive with the provided configuration. Unless you use another job.
Could you explain why you need 2 full backups on each disk?
Thanks

Re: Rotating Disks
Since you're swapping the drives daily and use the regular backup job (not backup copy), the behavior is expected.hallo there wrote: ↑Jan 08, 2020 11:16 am The problem is that never an incremantal backup is made.
