SCVMM 2016 and B&R 9 u2 dont work

Post by KennethLarsen »

So upgrading to SCVMM 2016 breaks Veeam backup through VMM. Case # 01956193.

but add your clusters as Microsoft cluster or stand alone hyper-v hosts will allow you to backup your VM's, however licensing may freak out and send u above your limit. You do have to repopulate your backup jobs, since TAGs don't work, and theVM discovered through SCVMM wont work either, jo bit of work there..

The official word from Veeam is no support for scvmm 2016 until Veeam 9.5, I hope they change their mind and make a patch for 9u2 so we can use VMM and backup with TAGs again :)

Kenneth,

Is there a specific reason why you would not want to go to Veeam 9.5? If you are upgrading to VMM 2016, I assume you are also considering upgrading to server 2016 which will require 9.5 anyway?

Veeam announced long time ago that we will support Win2016+Hyper-V2016 and System Center with those 2 products (our MP for SCOM for example) shortly after the final code from MS will become available.
We need at least a full QC cycle on the final code. Based on Anton Gostevs Forum Digest from Monday it would take way more time to create a "small" update (includind full QC cycle) then just waiting for v9.5.

Anton Gostev wrote on Monday:
With Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5, our goal is to sign off RTM build before the end of this month. We did have some delay, mainly because the Windows Server 2016 RTM build (that we have had access for a few weeks now) appeared to have a number of show stoppers around Hyper-V 2016 backup. We worked closely with Microsoft to investigate those, and I am happy to say that most of them have now been resolved with the update to Windows Server 2016 RTM build. This update will be pushed normally through Windows Update, and if you're a Microsoft partner – look for "Update 9D" package on Connect.

As soon as Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 RTM code is available, we will share it with all of our partners for preview purposes. As usual, we will need to wait at least 2 weeks before making the code generally available, because we must let our Veeam Cloud Connect service providers to upgrade their infrastructure before any of their clients do so.
